Holo is an application layer for distributed applications. It's more than just a virtual machine or a database—it's an entire ecosystem of people working together to build the future of the internet.
The word "holochain" comes from the Greek holos, meaning "whole," and chainein, meaning "to split." Holochain is a framework that allows data to be shared and distributed among its users. It functions similarly to blockchain technology in that it allows large groups of individuals to collaborate on large-scale projects, but unlike blockchain it doesn't use tokens or cryptography. Each user maintains their own data, and information flows freely among users. This means that no centralized authority can restrict the movement of information in any way—it's all up to the user.
